After being drawn to Warsaw by his love of Polish cinema and the promise of adventure, Arjun quickly begins to experience the isolation that comes with chosen migration. What begins as a personal story soon unfolds into a layered portrait of migration, nationalism, and belonging. Shot mostly on one street in the Polish capital, the film weaves together the intimate rituals of neighbours, the shifting symbols of identity, and Talwar’s own grief. Through brutal honesty and flashes of dry humour, Letters from Wolf Street captures both the tenderness and alienation of life as an outsider.

What the film ultimately asks is what does it mean to choose Diaspora? How do migrants navigate systems designed to exclude them, even when their arrival is voluntary? In the face of rising xenophobia across Europe, Talwar’s film de-romanticises the idea of “Europe” as a promised land, and instead, brings forward the mental, emotional, and social toll of building a life far from home.

However, it is not just a sharp portrayal of the harsher realities of starting over in a new country. The film also manages to depict the little pockets we carve out for ourselves in a new place and successfully celebrates the people who turn a city into a home.
